Fulgurite

Fulgurite is what is left when lightning hits sand. The strike fuses a hollow glass tube along its own path in a fraction of a second.

These come from the Sahara. Each one is fragile, hollow and shaped by the bolt that made it, so no two are close to alike.

They are sold by exact weight and shipped in a floating display case, because they do not survive a pocket.
